The Mask!
Character Name: Isabella ‘Bella’ Marie Swan
Species: Human
Group: human
Gender: female
Age: 24
Diet: (for vampires. you can ignore this if your anyone else)
Appearance:
Bella has medium length, usually brown hair, that currently looks more red than anything from the constant exposure to the sun. Her skin is extremely pale, whether she goes outside or not. She has dark brown eyes, that are surprisingly deep. She stands only five foot three inches, and has a fairly thin build. Bella has a nose piercing, which she got in a moment of insanity in college, and ended up loving. She has quite a few scars all over her body, from a number of minor(and major) accidents. Bella usually wears jeans, with tennis shoes or other flats, so that she can’t trip as easily, with nice shirts. Blue is one of her favorite colors to wear, along with red and green.
Personality:
Bella was extremely shy in high school, and at the beginning of college, but soon started making friends, who wanted her to be social. Bella adapted. She found that she actually kind of liked the other English majors. Bella has always been extremely stubborn. Bella still blushes really easily, though she can usually laugh it off, now. Bella has always been fairly quiet, and very smart. She’s also one of the most indecisive people she’s ever known. At one point in her life, she was extremely clingy, and rather whiny and helpless. At this point, she really likes being on her own, and has gotten pretty good at figuring out her own problems. She’s still very indecisive, but she can usually just force herself to do something. She’s usually a very happy, loving person, and tries her best to make people happy. When she was younger, that often meant being miserable to make someone else happy. She’s found that you can usually find a way to make both parties happy. Bella is, at this point, fairly self reliant. Bella’s mind has always been her safe place. She’s a very private person, even with her friends.
History:
Bella Swan was born in Forks, Washington, on a stormy September 13th, a very ordinary Forks day. Her parents, Charlie and Renee Swan, were thrilled. Bella was a quiet baby, rarely crying, or complaining. When Bella was six months old, her mother left her father. They had gotten married right after high school, and Renee had always been rather flighty. Renee left, and took little Bella with her to Phoenix, Arizona.
Bella and her mother where as close as a mother and daughter could be. It got a little tiring for Bella sometimes, she always felt like she was the adult, and her mother was the child. Bella was always the one reminding her mother to pay the bills, and buy groceries, and that her keys where on the fridge. She loved her mother, but sometimes she just wished she could grow up.
Bella was always a very bright, hardworking child. When she was fairly little, she had many imaginary friends. A whole imaginary world. At school, she was the girl who always raised her hand in class, and hid behind a book at recess. In fourth grade, she made her first friend. Her name was Gina, and she loved to talk. She made life better for Bella. Bella actually talked pretty regularly, and occasionally put her book away.
When Bella was thirteen, she had her first crush. His name was Riley, and she liked him because he brought a Beethoven notebook to school, while all of the other boys had ones with Transformers on them. She liked him for a whole month before she got the guts to go up to him and tell him she liked his notebook. He informed her that his mother had bought it for him, he didn’t even know what it was. He and his friends laughed at her every time she passed by for weeks.
After that, Bella stopped talking. She hated being laughed at, and Riley had somehow managed to get the whole grade laughing at her. She drew back into her books and her imaginary worlds. Her second crush was Romeo.
When Bella was sixteen, her mother married Phil Dwyer, minor league baseball player. Phil spent most of a summer attempting to teach Bella to play catch. It did not go well. Bella liked Phil well enough, he helped with the keeping Renee in order project. Phil eventually went off to spring training or something, in Florida. Renee stayed at home with Bella, but she was obviously unhappy. Bella, being the girl that she was, she volunteered to go and stay with her father in Forks. Even though she hated Forks. So, six months after Bella’s seventeenth birthday, Renee was off to Jacksonville, and Bella was off to Forks.
Everyone knows the story of Bella in Forks. Her romance with Edward Cullen, her subsequent love of Jacob Black. Well, maybe people don’t know about that, but many do.
Two years after Bella moved to Forks, and she was getting married. At eighteen. It didn’t feel like she was getting married, to her. She hadn’t been too involved in the planning. She’d just vetoed various things that involved too much lace, or too much expense.
Finally, the big day came. Bella knew that it wasn’t right that she kept thinking of her kiss with Jacob Black, her very best friend, when she was getting married.. Bella put on a fake smile for Alice and Rosalie and her mother and Esme, and pretended that Alice wasn’t already getting flashes of a ruined wedding. Bella had convinced Jacob to come back for her wedding, and he was standing in the place that would usually be for the maid of honor. She had demanded that she get a man of honor instead.
She walked down the aisle, the picture of a blushing bride. Her family and his beamed at her from both sides. Bella tried to smile, but watching her Jacob, with such a sad look in his eyes… she couldn’t. She saw the life she could have(should have) had with him. And the life she'd have with Edward. Or the death, she supposed. Did she really want to be frozen at eighteen? If she was honest with herself, she wasn’t sure. Ending her life should be something she's sure of.
She stopped, tripped. Her father stumbled with her. Her eyes widened as she realized the magnitude of what she was doing. She half whispered 'i'm so sorry, please forgive me, i can't'. She turned, nearly fell over her expensive French heels, and exited the chapel.
Once she took off the painful shoes, she didn’t stop until she reached her father's house. She changed out of the too fancy wedding dress, and got into her car.
Bella drove for a long time. She only slowed down once, when she heard the distant, pained howl of a wolf.
A year later, Bella was enrolled in Arizona State University. She was an English major, and happy. She hadn’t returned to Forks. She had slowly started to make friends in Arizona. It was amazing, being back in the sun. Bella hadn’t realized how much she’d missed the heat. She spent many nights sitting alone in her dorm, thinking and crying and hoping she did the right thing. Part of her knew that she did, and part of her wanted to run back in time, shake herself until she walked down the aisle to Edward, and forgot about Jacob Black forever. Fortunately, she eventually stopped thinking about them so much. She still thought about them all the time, actually, but she finally came to the conclusion that she did the right thing, and that Edward and Jacob were probably both fine without her.
College was good for Bella Swan. She made a few really good friend, stopped being so afraid to talk, even dated a bit. When her friends talk about old boyfriends, it kind of makes her sad to realize just how much of life she missed living in a fairytale. She didn’t have any serious boyfriends, but there where a couple of guys that she liked quite a bit. Bella was so glad that she had gone to college. Even if she had been with Edward, a vampire, and gone to college, it wouldn’t be like it had been while she was human. There would have been no going to class late, in her pajamas, with a nice boy she’d dated for a while smiling at her, thanking her for the nice night. No drinking way too much beer, and somehow ending up with her nose pierced. No dancing with boys she doesn’t know because they’re cute. She would have missed out on so much.
After college, Bella hugged her friends goodbye, and got on a plane to Asia. She’d always wanted to go to Tokyo. Bella had become more impulsive in her time away from Forks. In two years, she’d been to every continent. She’s gone to Paris, France, and Paris, Texas, and spent time trying to surf in Australia. She’d learned more than she could have imagined.
Finally, it was time to go home. She wasn’t the same Bella Swan that had run out of her wedding six years ago. She had grown up, matured, become much more independent, and been human. She finally felt like a person, instead of just some attachment to Edward or Jacob. Bella wasn’t sure why, but she kind of hoped that Jacob was the one waiting for her when she got home.
Almost Done!
Anything else you want to say: Um… I’m really not sure how it became so Jacob-wanting, I was trying to be neutral, but…
