Appearance:
Standing at 6'3", Jasper isn't the tallest of the Cullen’s, nor is he the shortest. Like the rest of his family, his ice cold, marble skin is pale in color, though through a vampire's eye, hundreds upon hundreds of crescent shape scars can be seen littering his body. Bruises seem to always be present beneath his eyes, though the degree of how dark they are, varies with his thirst, much like his eye color. Starting out a brownish gold color, the more hungry Jasper grows for blood, the darker they turn, until they are almost completely black. The hair covering the top of his head is a mess of dirty blonde locks that are on the brink of being a light shade of brown. His hair can be described as being unruly at times.
Though his clothes are almost always bought and picked out by Alice, Jasper prefers articles that are simplistic, and comfortable. Button up shirts, sweaters, and jeans usually adorn Jasper's body during the school week, while a more casual outfit of jeans and tee shirts is what he typically wears during the weekends, and long nights. Though humans cannot see the scars easily, unless Jasper is standing under a good source of light, he still has the habit to try and cover up as much skin as possible. During his high school days, Jasper is at a constant fight with his thirst for human blood. That often causes Jasper to appear as if he's always in pain, and he can come off as quite cold and reserved, when really he keeps his distance for not only the benefit of the humans, but his own as well.
Personality: To an outside eye, Jasper seems very cold and distant. Various of his fellow peers in school have referred to Jasper as always appearing as if he's in pain, due to the fact that is unknown to them, that he's constantly struggling for control over his thirst for human blood. However, around his family, especially Alice, Jasper's warmer side emerges. As a human, he was described as being fairly likable and charismatic, traits that helped Jasper swiftly move up throughout the ranks of the Confederate army, during the Civil War. The fact that he could be a strong, effective leader helped as well. Due to the events that occurred when Jasper was living with Maria's coven, he has suffered from depression, and has a deep, guilty conscience over the perceived wrong doings, that he had committed. He is deeply ashamed of the constant urge he has to fight, to not drain the humans around him, of their blood.
Using his gift, Jasper often tries to get the people around him into a calmer, soothing manner. However, being highly imitative, he tries to never take advantage of his power. Jasper is also, unconditionally in love with Alice, and sees her as his other half. Jasper believes that he was never complete until meeting her, and would do absolutely anything for, and to protect her.
History: At the age of 17, Jasper Whitlock wanted to enroll in the Confederate Army, despite the fact he was two young. His father Jack, had joined a few weeks prior, along with his older brother Elijah. Jasper's mother had urged her son to stay home; that he was too young, but he didn't listen. Running away, Jasper lied about his age, stating that he was 20, and enrolled. It was only a matter of time, before he began moving swiftly through the ranks. Due to his charismatic personality, along with the fact he was a strong leader, Jasper soon became the youngest Major in Texas, without even the consideration of his real age.
In the year 1863, Jasper stumbled upon a group of three girls, one of which was named Maria. They were the most beautiful girls he had ever seen, and was somehow drawn to them. It was Maria, who turned Jasper into a vampire, when he was just 20 years old. Territorial wars were being fought by vampires all over the south, Maria's coven included. Her goal was to claim various big cities, such as Mexico City, using an army of newborn vampires. Recognizing Jasper's high rank in the army, and knowing he had knowledge in combat, she chose to transform him. When Jasper's gift of being able to dictate and control the emotions of the people around him, he became even more valuable.
During the territorial wars, it was Jasper's duty to train the newborn vampires, and then destroy them, once they were no longer of use, and their strength had begun to fade. He performed this task for a little over a century, before Jasper began to grow weary of the constant murdering and fighting. It was then that he met up with a vampire named Peter, who had once fought alongside of Jasper. After a bit of persuasion, Jasper agreed to escape from Maria's coven. For a time after that, Jasper wandered aimlessly around with both Peter, and his mate Charlotte.
Soon, Jasper ran away for a second time. The trio had been feeding off of humans, something that Jasper grew to hate, due to the fact that he felt their emotions, as they died. After leaving Peter and Charlotte, Jasper wandered around on his own. However, he soon came across a half-empty diner in the city of Philadelphia. Inside, was Alice who had been waiting for him, after seeing Jasper in a vision. At first, Jasper was taken aback by the knowledge she had on him, but after a bit teasing on Alice's side, and a sheepish apology from Jasper, he took her hand and haven't been separated since. It was Alice who saw the Cullen’s in a vision. Meeting up with the family, they soon adopted their vegetarian lifestyle (Alice far easier than Jasper), and have remained with the Cullen’s ever since.
When Bella Swan arrived in Forks, worries amongst the Cullen family arrived as well. Jasper, though hesitant around the girl, soon accepted her as part of the family. Nonetheless, he kept his distance due to the hard time Jasper had at moments, adjusting to the vegetarian diet. It was during Bella’s first birthday in Forks that Jasper’s fear actually occurred. During her party that the Cullen’s had thrown, Bella managed to slice her finger on a piece of paper. The blood caused Jasper to go into a blood thirst rage, and he had to be forcefully removed from the room by both Emmett and Rosalie. It was shortly after that incident that the Cullen’s opted to leave Forks. During their absence, Jasper began to study philosophy classes at Cornell University. His attempt at a college degree however, was soon dropped due to the Cullen’s return to Forks many months after their departure.
Of course the return to Forks was anything but peaceful. Soon after their arrival, mysterious murders began to occur in surrounding towns and cities. Carlisle believed these were the work of a newborn vampire out of control. Soon it was realized that Victoria was building herself a newborn army, something that Jasper was all too familiar with. Teaming up with the werewolves, both parties managed to work together and Victoria was defeated. The Volturi then showed up, and instead of sparing the one newborn that surrendered, she was killed.
After the fight both a wedding date and ‘turning’ date for Bella was announced and Alice began to plan. Jasper of course was there to help and offer opinions, despite party planning not exactly being his expertise. Nonetheless he was happy to have Bella officially becoming part of the family, and happy that Edward was finally getting his match, so to speak. When Bella didn’t walk down the aisle, and instead opted to take off, Jasper was shocked. However, the emotions radiating off of his brother, were indescribable.
Almost Done!

It was a rarity, that Jasper Hale was never alone. Though he was a man who enjoyed the quieter times; who liked to spend time off on his own, that almost always included Alice's much welcomed company. In fact, when he was completely alone, it often felt as if a part of him was messing. Then again, there was no mystery to why he felt that way, seeing that Alice was his other half. Yet, there Jasper stood, the grass wet from the morning dew, while the sun slowly began to rise, its bright rays hidden by the thick, grey clouds, that seemed to always take up the sky above Forks.
He was just standing there, almost perfectly still with his arms folded loosely over his marbled chest. It was hard, playing human and attending high school day after day. Yes, it was hard for the entire family, but almost unbearable to Jasper. He was aware that everyone had slip ups; that it would just take time and practice, but at the same time, to be around all those humans? For it to be so easily to make some excuse, to get one to follow him into some secluded location? As if he had to even try. A simply use of his powers, and he could have the entire student body willingly die. Yet, Jasper restrained. He was better than that. He had to be better than that. Too much death had already filled his eternal life. Too many killings; too much depression. And now was a different time. Now, he had not only Alice, but his entire family. If Jasper slipped up, it would mess up the great life they were leading in Forks. It was filled with questioning stares and whispers of gossip behind their backs, but it was a comfortable, good life.
Taking one last look up into the sky, he swiftly turned on his heel and headed back towards the house. The morning was growing older, and Jasper still had to get dressed. Of course that could only take moments, the fact that Alice was constantly indecisive about what he wore, yet insistent that she dressed him, usually delayed the process.
